Survivor wines have a unique story. Legend has it that during a transport of local Nguni cattle, one cow managed to escape and fled into the vineyards. This marked the beginning of a whole new herd, nestled in the heart of the Swartland region. These Nguni cattle are now part of the winery and still graze in the Survivor vineyards. This tribute is so profound that Survivor has even included these unique animals on its label.

The South African wines of Survivor

Survivor's vineyards are located in the Swartland region. This region, about an hour and a half's drive from Cape Town, is known for its beautiful wineries. While it wasn't once considered a particularly noteworthy wine region, it now ranks alongside Stellenbosch, Paarl, and Franschhoek. An impressive list of renowned names. At Survivor, they truly translate the power of Swartland into delicious wines. Besides their successful white wines, Survivor now also boasts a large collection of red wines, including this Survivor Cabernet Sauvignon. The process of achieving this beautiful blend is time-consuming and intensive, but it's worth every effort. The 18-month oak aging is particularly unique to this Cabernet Sauvignon. It's also remarkable that 10% of the barrels are Hungarian, which gives the red wine its distinctive aroma.

What does Survivor Cabernet Sauvignon taste like?

Well, brace yourself for a robust glass of red wine. Not something everyone can enjoy quickly. Survivor Cabernet Sauvignon is perfect by the fireplace on a rainy day. The drizzly weather will literally melt away, making your day sparkling and successful, along with the intense aromas of blackcurrant, red cherry, and dark chocolate. A sultry note of plump, ripe plums will tantalize your taste buds. The oak aging is well-presented on the finish, with hints of vanilla and cedar.
