Donnafugata Tancredi has a new version namely the Dolce & Gabbana. Another gem from the island of Sicily. The Tancredit is a grand wine made from international grape varieties with a Mediterranean character. It's a blend of primarily Cabernet Sauvignon and Nero d'Avola, with a touch of Tannat. The vineyards are located in the Contessa Entellina region at an altitude of between two and six hundred meters. The soil is chalky clay, rich in potassium, magnesium, iron, and zinc, among other minerals. Perhaps you remember Alain Delon from the famous film Luchino Viconti made about Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa's The Leopard. If so, you'll see that this wine reflects the elegance and ambition of that "revolutionary" man. Artist Stefano Vitale created the illustration for the wine label, which he dedicated to Giacomo Rallo, visionary captain of Donnafugata. The Contessa Entellina winery is always there, perched in the clouds, almost like a mirage. Above right is the beloved village of Sambuca di Sicilia, where some of the vineyards contribute to the Tancredi blend. All these places where the memory of this man remains indelible and where his dreams became reality.

Wood aging for the red Donnafugata Tancredi

The grapes are harvested by hand in September. The finest grapes are then selected for the production of this magnificent red wine. After harvesting, the grapes are gently pressed, followed by a fourteen-day fermentation process in large steel tanks at a temperature of 28-30 degrees Celsius. The wine is aged in French oak barrels for fourteen months. After this, the wine is bottled and remains in the winery's cellars for at least another thirty months to further develop. This gives this Tancredi length and structure.

The scent and taste of the Donnafugata Tancredi

On the nose, this Donnafugata has hints of cherry, spice, vanilla, cedar, and chocolate. The palate is round and powerful, a true showpiece! Notes of black fruit, plums, tobacco, wood, and vanilla. A complete wine!
