The history of Tenuta di Tavignano goes back a long way. It was in 1970 that Stefano Aymerich and his wife purchased the winery. They fell in love with the area and knew it produced remarkable wines. The winery is located in the village of Cingoli in the heart of the Marche region. A very hilly landscape, Tenuta di Tavignano sits atop a hill overlooking the valley. Jesi lies to the northwest, and the Musone River, which flows near the vineyards, contributes to the harvest. Until about three years ago, Stefano involved his niece Ondine in the signing, and she will continue to run Tenuta di Tavignano. And thankfully so, because the wines are truly fantastic!

The old Verdicchio vineyard of Tavignano

The Verdicchio grape is the winery's most important grape; it's native to the region and produces a top-notch harvest. The Tenuta di Tavignano estate covers an impressive 230 hectares, of which only thirty are planted with grapes. Stefano strives to obtain only the best grapes and always seeks the best conditions. The vineyard for this Verdicchio Classico Superiore is situated on a southeast-facing slope, providing optimal airflow. The wind provides the grapes with daily refreshment during the warm summer season. This creates the perfect climate, and all bunches are harvested by hand when they reach ideal ripeness.

Full and very powerful this Tavignano Villa Torre Verdicchio

What a textbook example of how beautiful a Verdicchio wine from Le Marche can be! The joy begins the moment we open the bottle: we smell intense aromas of green apple and floral notes of hawthorn and broom. Upon pouring, we see a beautiful light yellow color that is clear and has a green rim. Nosing the glass, we noted impressions of Granny Smith apple, freshly mown grass, citrus fruit, and a hint of fresh grapefruit. The beautiful, fresh nose continues on the palate; the palate is pampered with notes of green herbs, citrus fruits like lime and passion fruit, and also a touch of pear. On the back of the tongue, this white wine offers a stimulating wave of fine tannins, creating a refreshing sensation. The flavor is also typical of the Verdejo grape: plenty of white fruit, green herbs, and a touch of gooseberry.
