The Mooring wines are based on the origins of viticulture in South Africa and the associated trading spirit that has passed through the Cape of Good Hope for centuries. In centuries past, tens of thousands of ships passed through Cape Town – it was the playground of adventurers and pirates. Sometimes with less fortunate outcomes, including shipwreck. Each The Mooring wine represents a shipwreck that fell victim to the collision of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans.
The label of The Mooring Syrah Grenache depicts the SS Waratah. This was a passenger ship that operated a ferry service between Europe and Australia. In July 1909, during her second voyage, she disappeared off the coast between Durban and Cape Town. The wreck's location remains uncertain to this day. What we do know for sure is that The Mooring Syrah Grenache is an incredibly delicious wine.
The classic grape varieties create a playful yet complex palate. A talented blend that truly showcases the character of South African wines.
