A glass of Chardonnay to die for. Not your typical glass of wine, but we expected nothing less from the Tramin winery. This winery is known for thinking outside the box, for straying from the beaten path. Tramin Glarea Chardonnay Wooded is the latest addition to the ever-expanding Tramin family, and once again, this wine hits the mark.

The wines of Tramin

Although its contemporary and modern label suggests otherwise, the Tramin winery has a long history. It was founded in 1889 by Christian Schrott, a priest from Paris. Thanks to the foundation he laid, the Tramin winery is now a cooperative of no fewer than 270 local winegrowers, who collaborate intensively and effectively. On over 230 hectares, they ensure the grapes are of the highest quality, a fact you can immediately sense when you taste a Tramin wine. What makes this Chardonnay special is the vineyards in which the grapes grow. It has a soil of limestone and gravel. It's no coincidence that "Glarea" is an ancient Roman word for gravel. The altitude reaches almost 300 meters, which allows for a balanced growing process. Daytime temperatures can be quite warm during the summer months, tempered by a gentle breeze at night.

Impressions of Tramin Glarea Chardonnay Wooded

Everything seems to be right about Tramin Glarea. After a hand harvest and above-average fermentation, the precious juice is delicately aged in special barriques of no less than 12 hectoliters! The impressive aroma and taste clearly demonstrate the special nature of this wine's production process. In the glass, the wine hovers between yellow and green, but as soon as you put your nose in, you'll notice the robustness of this oak-aged Chardonnay. Prepare for ripe bananas, real apricots, and a hint of pineapple. The palate offers a delicate combination of creamy and spicy notes and freshness. Not too intense and certainly not too heavy. The mineral notes on the finish are a welcome bonus.
