Trapiche Broquel Cabernet Sauvignon

This Cabernet Sauvignon from Trapiche Broquel is a richly aromatic wine with a good balance of depth and power, made entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. These grapes come from various vineyards in Maipú, Luján de Cuyo, and the Uco Valley in Argentina.

High-altitude vineyards

The largest wine-growing district in Argentina is the Mendoza province. The vineyards here are mostly located at high altitudes, between 900 and 1500 meters. The Trapiche winery's vineyards are also located here. The altitude offers many advantages. For example, it's warm during the day and cools considerably at night. These temperature differences help the grapes develop their aromatics. Diseases caused by the drought are also prevented. On the other hand, the drought does make irrigation necessary. The water for this irrigation system is brought to the vineyards from the Andes through a system of canals. This canal system, incidentally, is a direct legacy of the local Huarpes Indians, who conceived and built it centuries ago.

Manual harvest for this Cabernet Sauvignon

The grapes are harvested by hand in February. A careful selection process is carried out to achieve ultimate perfection. After harvest, the grapes are destemmed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel and concrete tanks at a controlled temperature of 25 to 30 degrees Celsius for 25 days. Finally, seventy percent of the wine is aged in American oak barrels and thirty percent in French oak barrels for fifteen months.
