A deliciously round wine for the full-bodied Chardonnay lover! This white wine from Trapiche is made entirely from Chardonnay grapes sourced from various vineyards near Alto Agrelo, Lujan de Cuyo, and Uco Valley in Mendoza, Argentina. The soil is alluvial and stony. Trapiche Broquel Chardonnay has been named "Best Winery of the Year" no fewer than four times. And for good reason!
Trapiche Broquel is located on the edge of the Andes Mountains
Mendoza is by far the largest wine region in Argentina. Situated on a high plateau at the edge of the Andes, this province is responsible for approximately seventy percent of the country's annual wine production. Bodegas Trapiche also contributes to this. This winery's vineyards are located in the same province and were founded in 1883 by Don Tiburcio Benegas. His goal was to produce the finest wine he could. And we can safely say he succeeded. Today, Bodegas Trapiche is one of the most renowned wineries in Argentina and far beyond.
The grapes are carefully selected, destemmed, and pressed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of fifteen degrees Celsius. A portion of the wine (25 percent) undergoes malolactic fermentation in new French and American oak barrels. This converts the sharper malic acid into milder lactic acid, giving the wine a creamier mouthfeel. After fermentation, the wine is aged for another nine months in oak barrels.
Full and very powerful, this Trapiche Broquel Chardonnay
This golden-yellow white wine boasts intense aromas of tropical fruits like pineapple, red apples, and cinnamon, with hints of vanilla and honey. Its uplifting, superior freshness comes courtesy of Trapiche's incredibly high-altitude vineyards. This Trapiche Broquel Chardonnay is full-bodied and robust, again offering plenty of fruit, but also a hint of vanilla and good structure. It concludes with a long yet wonderfully smooth finish. Pairs well with fish, chicken, pasta, fruit, and soft cheeses.
