And once again, Bodega Trapiche has achieved a high-quality Chardonnay. This smooth Chardonnay is made entirely from Chardonnay grapes. The grapes are carefully harvested and selected, because only the finest juice is good enough for the Trapiche winemakers.
Wine production on the edge of the Andes Mountains
Mendoza is by far the largest wine region in Argentina. Situated on a high plateau at the edge of the Andes Mountains, this province is responsible for approximately seventy percent of the country's annual wine production. Bodegas Trapiche also contributes to this. This winery's vineyards are located in the same province and were founded in 1883 by Don Tiburcio Benegas. His goal was to produce the finest wine he could. And we can safely say he succeeded. Today, Bodegas Trapiche is one of the most renowned wineries in Argentina and beyond. Trapiche owns 1,075 hectares of vineyards spread across seven estates. These vineyards are located at altitudes ranging from 630 to 1,000 meters. The vines are imported from France. The winery is equipped with the latest winemaking techniques.
A beautifully oak-aged Chardonnay from Trapiche
The grapes are destemmed and pressed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of fifteen degrees Celsius. Half of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation. This fermentation converts the sharp malic acid into milder lactic acid, making the wine softer and creamier. Fifty percent of the wine is then aged in French and American barrels, with the remainder aged in stainless steel.
A beautifully oak-aged Chardonnay, its aroma develops hints of toasted bread and apple pie, as well as tropical fruit and vanilla. The palate is soft and ripe, yet oily! A round wine with light acidity that beautifully balances everything.
