A Beerenauslese you could wake us up in the middle of the night for. The sublime process of Weingut Tschida makes the Tschida Beerenauslese Cuvée so incredibly delicious. Enjoy it with a dessert full of tropical fruit. Its robust character even stands up to a crème brûlée! In our opinion, one of the best Beerenauslese wines.
The Austrian wines of Tschida
Austria has a particularly turbulent history when it comes to its wines. For a long time, Austria was among the top producers in Europe. However, due to a problem in the 1980s, Austria suffered some reputational damage, causing a decline in Austrian wines. Fortunately, over the past fifteen years, Austria has clearly recovered from the slump, and bottles of wine are easily finding their way to consumers again. One of those wineries that has always remained true to its heritage is Weingut Tschida, a prominent producer of primarily sweet dessert wines.
Weingut Tschida completed its first harvest in 1982. For a long time, viticulture was a niche for Tschida. In 1993, they decided to switch entirely to viticulture, and the real growing began. Today, they are an authority on winemaking. They are located in Burgenland, a region in the far southeastern corner of Austria. Walking through the vineyards, you can even see the Hungarian border!
Impressions of Tschida Beerenauslese Cuvee
The Beerenauslese appellation is a protected designation. This means the grapes are harvested particularly late, when the Samling grapes are in the midst of their grapevine maturation process. This results in a low juice yield, but what is available offers plenty of power, complexity, and sugar. This gives Tschida Beerenauslese Cuvée its sweet character. The aroma and flavor also offer exuberant notes. Overripe tropical fruits such as passion fruit, pineapple, and mango. A hint of spice on the finish adds a touch of tension to the Tschida Beerenauslese Cuvée.
