Today, the Montresor winery is a renowned name in the Veneto wine region, producing exquisite wines, including Amarone. Originally from France, the Montresor family arrived in Veneto in 1892 from Orléans in the heart of France. They left their beloved France, where Claude de Montresor was even a duke around 1600, to fulfill their dream. They sought out the finest vineyards, and they certainly found them: for this wine, they are located on the best slopes in Valpolicella. Over the years, the vineyards have been improved, and they have also invested in modern winemaking techniques without compromising Italian winemaking traditions.

The beautiful ripe Valpolicella Classico

The Valpolicella wine region boasts several vineyards, enhancing the diversity of this Montresor Valpolicella Classico. In northern Italy, the climate is perfect for Corvina, Molinara, and Rondinella grapes. Plenty of sunshine allows the grapes to ripen well, and the fresh breeze contributes to their freshness. While the climate is ideal, the soil structure also provides a treasure trove for these red wines from the Capitel della Crosara line. The old vines have deep roots, allowing them to easily absorb moisture and nutrients. This is evident in the taste of this red wine.

Wood aging for the Capitel della Crosara Valpolicella

Once the grapes are harvested, they are gently pressed, and this wine is aged in oak for several months. Both Slovenian and French oak is used, making it softer and creamier. This Valpolicella Classico has a powerful nose with notes of almonds and floral notes. The palate is a textbook example of a top-class Valpolicella, soft and creamy on the palate with plenty of black fruit. A touch of spice and subtle notes of toast and fresh stewed plums are present on the palate.
