This red wine from Ventisquero's Reserva series is made primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, supplemented with a tiny amount of Syrah for zest. That touch of Syrah gives it a unique character and a very smooth flavor. The grapes are grown in the Maipo Valley wine region on well-drained granite and stony soil. The grapes are harvested by hand and then aged in oak barrels. In the Ventisquero cellars, this wine is given ample time to develop.
A 'green' way of making wine
From the very beginning, respect for nature has been central to Ventisquero. They operate in an environmentally friendly manner, for example, by significantly limiting water use, offsetting CO2 emissions from transport, and preserving the environment as much as possible when planting new vineyards. This approach made them the first in Chile to receive the "Sustainable Wine of Chile" green certification, making them a leader in modern winemaking in Chile. Harvesting the grapes is also meticulously handled. After harvesting, the grapes are rigorously selected and then destemmed. Only the finest juice is suitable, thus ensuring the winery's high quality.
Harvest takes place in April when the grapes are at their peak ripeness. The grapes ripen slowly, allowing for balanced development, resulting in elegant wines. The grapes undergo pre-fermentative maceration at a low temperature to bring out the maximum color and aromas. The must is then fermented in stainless steel tanks. Seventy percent of this wine is aged for ten months in French oak and then three months in bottle.
The aromas of Ventisquero Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon
This ruby-red wine has an expressive nose that reveals aromas of strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and blackcurrants, along with notes of black pepper, caramel, tobacco, and chocolate from the oak aging. On the palate, it has great body and structure with balanced acidity and ripe tannins, along with a large, fruity finish.
