Description
As a tribute to founder Vicente Gandia, this intense and unique wine was developed at the Hoya de Cadenas estate. This vineyard, an ecological paradise with over two hundred hectares of the finest local and international grape varieties, is located a hundred kilometers from Valencia. The vines are supported by trellises and, during periods of low rainfall, are watered by a computer-controlled irrigation system.
The best wine from Vicente Gandia
The Vicente Gandia winery dates back to 1885 and owns its own bodega, Hoya de Cadenas. It is located at an altitude of eight hundred meters in the hills of the Sierra de la Bucerca. Thanks to this location, the vineyard enjoys a unique microclimate, allowing the grapes to benefit from the daytime and nighttime temperature fluctuations. This gives the grapes unique characteristics, such as in this wine with intense aromas and high concentration. Old vines of the typical indigenous Bobal grape from Utiel-Requena form the basis for this wine. Bunches from thirty-year-old vines are used. The remaining thirty percent of the Cuvée is composed of equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. The Gandia estate produces distinctive Bobal wines through rigorous selection, drastic chlorophyll reduction, and low yields. After harvest, a twenty-day maceration process takes place. This is followed by vinification by individual grape varieties at 27 degrees Celsius. The wines are then aged in one-year-old Allier and two-year-old Missouri oak barrels. What does the Generacion 1 Vicente Gandia taste like?
The wine has an intense, deep red color and aromas of red fruit, blackcurrant, and vanilla, along with an earthy note. The finish is intense and spicy, with a hint of licorice. Generation 1 is produced only in the best years, hence the Grandes Anadas designation on the label. It is recommended with fish, meat, game, and nouvelle cuisine.Product details
