What a delightful, lightly sparkling wine this Zagara Moscato d'Asti is, made by the Marchesi di Barolo winery. The grapes for Zagara come from the finest vineyards of Mango, Neive, and Alba in the Piedmont region of Italy.

The history of Marchesi di Barolo

The Marchesi di Barolo wine cellars are located in the village of Barolo. At the beginning of the nineteenth century, Marquis Falletti laid the foundation for the now world-famous Barolo wines. After the death of the last Falletti, the work was continued by the charitable foundation Opera Pia Barolo. In 1895, Peitro Abbona began working in the cellars, and with his knowledge and skills, he founded the Marchesi di Barolo winery. Today, it is run by Ernesto Abbona's family. The winery has approximately 110 hectares of vineyards. Thanks to a significant increase in productivity and a sound strategy, the company has grown considerably in recent years. In addition to their own vineyards, they purchase 50 percent of their grapes from local farmers. The grapes are hand-picked and transported to the cellar during the day to ensure they arrive in one piece. During the fermentation process, the temperature is lowered, which gives the Muscat its sweetness. This also means the wine contains only five percent alcohol, leaving behind unfermented grape sugar, which gives the wine a subtle sweetness.

An Italian masterpiece

Anyone with a sweet tooth will love this wine. Zagara boasts a beautiful straw-yellow color with golden reflections and intense aromatic aromas with a hint of orange blossom, which gives the wine its name. The aroma of Muscat gives it a uniquely soft, sweet character. The palate boasts a lovely, soft mousse (bubbles), refined flavors of sweet yellow fruit, and a faint hint of orange. The sweetness of this Zagara Moscato d'Asti is just right! Truly delicious!
