Finally, it was worth the wait. After the famous Zolla Primitivo, Zolla Susumaniello, and Zolla Riserva, this southern Italian winery has finally released a white wine. The jubilation in our tasting room was immense. We were practically dancing on the table when we heard that Zolla's white wine was on its way. Finally! Zolla has captured the hearts of the Netherlands in a short time. Their accessible yet high-quality wines, available at a reasonable price, have ensured the unprecedented popularity of these southern Italian wines.
The great success of the Zolla wines
Zolla specializes in red wines. The Primitivo di Manduria, for example, has won several awards. Its main vineyards are located around the village of Manduria, but the winery has also invested heavily in the Salento area. Here, Zolla planted Chardonnay vines a few years ago. The location is perfect; the sun works overtime here. And it is precisely the sun that gives this delicious Zolla Chardonnay its phenomenal aroma and flavor. Fortunately, the Adriatic and Ionian Seas provide the necessary freshness at night with a gentle sea breeze. The result is a delicious, well-balanced white wine.
What does this white wine from Zolla taste like?
Expectations were sky-high. We're now familiar with the high quality of Zolla red wines. We were afraid our high expectations would be disappointed. Fortunately, all our fears were unfounded. As soon as we removed the cork, it became clear that this Zolla Chardonnay had everything it took to become a perfect wine. Fresh, fruity, and bursting with flavor. The ripe yellow fruit lands pleasantly on the palate, making you want to take another sip. This emphasizes the wine's pleasantness, which is entirely in line with all Zolla wines.
