For this white wine, we travel to the south of France, specifically to the Bergerac wine region. That's where the Cuisset family winery, which produces some of the region's finest wines, is located. Today, Pascal Cuisset, along with his father and brother, is responsible for the entire operation. The family takes great pleasure in this endeavor, and winemaker Pascal is considered one of the region's most talented winemakers. He has received numerous international awards for this achievement. And yes, we're awarding Château des Eyssards a gold medal, too, because the wines are truly magnificent.

The harvest of the Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon

The vineyards of Château des Eyssards are decades old and have provided Pascal with some of the finest harvests in recent years. The location in the Bergerac region is perfect, with plenty of sunshine and a natural breeze that cools the grapes. This balance is truly fantastic, and the grapes mature evenly and retain their freshness. This white wine from Château des Eyssards is made with 90% Sauvignon Blanc, with a touch of Semillon added. This has proven to be a success in Bergerac, as several wineries have adopted this new Château des Eyssards blend.

When the Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon grapes reach full ripeness, they are harvested early in the morning to prevent damage and oxidation to the bunches. The grapes remain cool during harvest, which lends a lovely, fresh style to this white wine from Château des Eyssards. Let's start with the beautiful light color with a green shimmer. It invites us to take a sniff, and then this white wine will transport you to a vacation. We smell a beautiful attack of fresh white summer fruit, crisp citrus notes, and fresh mint leaves. The palate is equally stunning, a lovely, soft flavor with delightfully vibrant notes of white fruit. On the back of the palate, there are nuances of passion fruit and a hint of grapefruit.
