This greatly benefits the Pinot Grigio grape. The North Island has a significantly warmer climate than the South Island, giving these grapes a much fuller fruit content. The grapes for this delicious Pinot Grigio from Villa Maria come from Gisborne, Hawke's Bay, and Marlborough. Harvesting for this white wine takes place in mid-March and is done entirely by hand. A Pinot Grigio from New Zealand is unusual and therefore quite distinctive. The influence of the sea makes this Pinot Grigio from New Zealand quite surprising. Pinot Grigio, also known as Pinot Gris, has wonderful qualities that make for a very pleasant wine. The color is a beautiful golden yellow with a greenish sheen. The nose is full of aromas of ripe pear, honeysuckle, and raisins. The taste is very powerful, delicious, and seductive, with notes of melon, apricot, honey, and a lovely length. Powerful and generous, and as we expect from Pinot Grigio or Pinot Gris, with a natural sweetness at the end.
