2021 was a challenging year in the Jura, marked by spring frost and erratic weather during the growing season. Despite lower yields, the year produced wines with good freshness and character, which beautifully reflect the unique terroir of the Jura.

This isn't your average wine. Not your everyday Chardonnay to enjoy with an aperitif. Or with a delicious piece of fish. This is special; unique, and full of character. A fine glass of wine from the Jura, one you simply must appreciate. Sit in the sun and let the spicy notes wash over you. This is the Jura, the neglected child of French winemaking.

The wines of Domaine Baud

With the rise of unique, often lesser-known wines, Jura wines are also becoming increasingly conventional. But be warned: these are exceptional wines with their own unique character. Our oenologists don't call the Jura the Sherry of France for nothing. Jura wines are known for their oxidative character and are often produced using the same method you find in Jerez. By only partially filling the wooden barrel, a layer of yeast cells forms on the wine: the Flor. This is a term we also find in Sherry wines. Domaine Baud is currently one of the most renowned wineries in the Jura. Their wines, despite their distinctive character, captivate our oenologists. This is largely due to the winery's impressive and rich history. Founded in the mid-18th century, the estate has been run by no fewer than nine generations.
