The Wittmann family business is located in Westhofen, Rheinhessen. It's a remarkably successful winery, and winemaker and owner Philipp Wittmann has been named Germany's best winemaker no fewer than twice. And for good reason. The wines are of unparalleled quality, and nature always takes center stage. This guarantees honest wines of outstanding quality. A youthful, fresh Pinot Noir that combines fruit with a vibrant freshness.

Wittmann's biodynamic viticulture

Wittmann Winery has existed for many generations. Philipp Wittmann now runs the winery in a long family tradition. His parents, Elisabeth and Günter, are still actively involved, but they recognized their son's unstoppable pursuit of quality and leadership qualities from an early age. Philipp is now building on the organic foundation his father laid in 1990. His father, Günter Wittmann, had long since abandoned traditional viticultural methods and therefore switched to more environmentally friendly methods of cultivating his grapes. This also means extra work. The family owns 25 hectares of vineyards, primarily planted with Riesling, but also abundant with Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Silvaner. Now, his son Philip, under his father's watchful eye, is at the helm of the winery. The Pinot Noir grapes are carefully and entirely harvested by hand. Upon arrival at the winery, a strict selection process follows, with only the finest grapes being selected. This guarantees Wittmann high quality. The grapes are then gently pressed, after which the juice undergoes fermentation in oak barrels. After the necessary rest, the wine is bottled.

What does Wittmann Spatburgunder Trocken taste like?

The Wittmann Spatburgunder Trocken emerges with a purple-red color. The aroma is distinctly red berry, complemented by light vanilla and spice. The palate is delightfully juicy with fine acidity and light tannins. A beautifully soft, accessible wine with a spicy finish.
