Our Review
Just as Antinori is also very good at making entry-level wines that are a good introduction to a region or area. This Achelo is also like that. Reasonably creamy, not too spicy Syrah. Dark fruit. Not too heavy either.
Nestled deep in southern Tuscany lies the heart of La Braccesca Achelo Cortona Syrah. While it may be the younger sibling of the renowned Bramasole, La Braccesca Achelo shines in its own powerful way, thanks to the region's impeccable weather conditions that bring out the best of the Syrah grape.
La Braccesca's Special Terroir for Achelo Syrah
Since 1990, the La Braccesca winery has been a jewel in the Antinori family's crown, spread across two distinct zones: Montepulciano and Cortona. This strategic location offers the unique opportunity to produce diverse wines. Cortona, home of La Braccesca Achelo, boasts 337 hectares of vineyards nestled in the foothills of picturesque hills near the city. Here in Cortona, thanks to the warmer microclimate and the cooling breezes from nearby Lake Trasimeno, the Syrah grape thrives in all its glory. La Braccesca's state-of-the-art underground cellars are equipped with advanced technology and a variety of barriques and barrels, giving each glass of La Braccesca Achelo its own unique charm. The Caring Production of La Braccesca Achelo
Patience is a virtue, and that certainly applies to the Syrah grapes of La Braccesca Achelo. They are not harvested until September, when they reach their peak ripeness. At the La Braccesca winery, they are then treated with precision: carefully destemmed, gently pressed, and subjected to cold maceration and fermentation in stainless steel vats. Seventy percent of La Braccesca Achelo is then transferred to used barriques for further fermentation and aging, while the remaining 30% continues to develop its character in stainless steel tanks.La Braccesca Achelo Cortona Syrah: A Taste Sensation
As soon as La Braccesca Achelo is poured, it captivates with a brilliant violet hue. The nose is enriched with aromas of stone fruit and plums. And then, the palate—surprising and full-bodied, with fruity notes perfectly balanced with subtle herbs, a fresh undertone, and soft, sweet tannins. It's the ideal partner for game and stews, turning every meal into a Tuscan feast.Product details
