The 2021 vintage for red wines from Burgenland was outstanding, scoring 94-96 points . The wines are described as still youthful and powerful, with a character that develops slowly [4, 5].

The most prestigious blue grape, executed to perfection by Zantho. Thanks in part to the Zantho winery, Austrian wines are once again appearing in wine cabinets. Austrian wines were always quite popular until the 1980s. Failing wine regulations and the abuse of substances like sulfites were the cause of the Austrian wine crisis. This caused the complete collapse of the Alpine region's viticulture. However, the current legislation is among the strictest in Europe. Sustainability is also a top priority for many producers, such as Zantho. This Zweigelt from Burgenland is not only incredibly delicious, but it's also vegan-friendly.

Austrian viticulture is dominated by two grape varieties that have almost acquired a sense of national pride.
