Vintage Report
The 2021 vintage in South Africa receives an excellent rating of 94 points in the Robert Parker Vintage Chart. The wines from this year are of high quality, but may currently still be a bit youthful and tannic.
Located 150 kilometers east of Cape Town, one of South Africa's capitals, lies the renowned Bon Courage. Bon Courage was founded in 1818 in Robertson, a breathtaking wine region in South Africa, near the Breederiveer River. The Bruwer family, whose ancestors originated in the Loire Valley in France, were at the heart of this successful winery. Winemaking was therefore in their blood. Bon Courage is known for its beautiful wines with excellent value for money, including this Bon Courage Estate Cabernet Sauvignon.
The vinification of the Cabernet Sauvignon
Bon Courage is known for its modern production methods. This allows them to extract the best from every grape variety, including Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes for Bon Courage Estate Cabernet Sauvignon are grown in prime locations in Robertson, ideally positioned for sun and river access, ensuring a pleasant nighttime breeze. During the growing season, the large leaves are trimmed to allow for even more sunlight. After harvest, Bon Courage Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is aged in oak, in its second or third use. This allows for the necessary aromas to be released, but not excessively, keeping this Bon Courage accessible. Oak aging lasts between 12 and 15 months, just as the winemaker approves bottling.Nuances in Bon Courage Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
The color, the aroma, and the taste—you can immediately recognize this as a Cabernet Sauvignon. And what a wine! A beautiful glass of red wine. Deliciously rich on the nose. You smell red berries, strawberries, black cherries, vanilla, and a hint of nuts, but also currants, cedar, and mint. Broad in aroma, successful in taste. After a sip of Bon Courage Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, you'll slowly fall in love with this wine. Full-bodied and ripe. Concentrated in flavor. Cassis and cherries. A hint of jam, but also complex notes of cedar and mint. An astronomically high price-quality ratio!Product details
