Vintage Report
The 2022 vintage in South Africa received an excellent rating of 92 points from Robert Parker. The wines from this year are currently still a bit youthful and will develop slowly and beautifully.
A typical Chardonnay with all the beautiful notes of the grape! This Fleur du Cap comes from the Stellenbosch wine region, where Chardonnay is particularly well-developed.
The vineyards of Essence Chardonnay
Stellenbosch's oldest vineyard was planted in 1990. The remaining vineyards were planted between 2000 and 2006. All vines are grown on 5-wire hedgerows. The soils range from limestone and deeply decomposed granite in Stellenbosch to slate soils in Elgin and Somerset West. Only the very best grapes from the finest vineyards are used to create this Chardonnay. Essence du Cap is known for its exceptional quality and wines that express their true varietal character. And that is clearly evident in this white wine. The climate is mild, with south- and east-facing slopes providing natural protection from the late afternoon sun. Cooling breezes from the Atlantic Ocean ensure rich, slow-growing crops. The soil is predominantly medium-textured and well-drained, with good water retention capacity. After manual harvesting, the juice is clarified and inoculated with pure yeast. Fermentation for twenty percent of the wine began in tank and was completed in French (90 percent) and American (10 percent) oak barrels. The remaining eighty percent fermented in tanks on French and American oak staves. Both portions are left in contact with the oak for four months, with regular stirring of the lees to enhance the mouthfeel and ensure a rich, full-bodied, and complex wine.Enjoy a beautiful glass of Fleur du Cap Chardonnay
The Fleur du Cap Chardonnay from the Essence du Cap series has an average structure and strength. The wine is brilliantly clear and has a light straw-yellow color in the glass. Light green reflections underscore its purity. The wine has delightful aromas of fresh citrus and tropical fruit, accompanied by a touch of oak. The fruit and acidity are well balanced. The oaky aroma gives the wine a certain fullness without being overpowering. With its subtle sweetness, the Essence du Cap Chardonnay has a long-lasting effect. The Essence du Cap Chardonnay pairs beautifully with seafood or light fish.Product details
