The Rothschild name is inextricably linked to wine. This family, originally a banking family, continues to amaze wine connoisseurs year after year with their sublime wines. While their wine adventure began in Bordeaux, various Rothschild descendants have spread across the globe, including Baroness Philippine de Rothschild. In the mid-1990s, she purchased an estate in Chile, then a burgeoning wine-producing country. She recognized the potential of the terroir and climate Chile had to offer. A golden move, as Rothschild's Mapu wines are now in high demand among many wine lovers.

The vineyards of Mapu Reserva Carmenere

The vineyards are located in the Maule Valley, a wine region situated quite far south. The heart of the estate is the Villavicencio Estate, which sits dazzlingly amidst the vineyards. Many international grapes grow exceptionally well in Chile, but one grape stands out: Carmenere. Originally from Bordeaux (and now virtually extinct there), this grape has found a new home in Chilean vineyards. Mapu has also planted many hectares of this beloved grape.

The smell and taste of Mapu Reserva Carmenere

The Carmenere guarantees a smile on your face. Pour Mapu Reserva Carmenere and your guests will be talking about how good this wine was for years to come. It offers power and complexity, yet also softness and suppleness. All sorts of emotions are evoked when you pour a glass of Mapu Reserva Carmenere. Because this Chilean wine is aged for a short time in oak, it has a light bite. A bouquet of black fruit, cherries, spices, pepper, and oak notes captivate your senses. The velvety finish makes Mapu Reserva Carmenere a resounding success.
