The origin, grapes and craftsmanship behind this wine.

Boekenhoutskloof wines have an impressive global reputation. They are synonymous with South Africa's captivating wine culture and the exceptional quality of South African wines. Winemaker Marc Kent is a welcome guest at wineries worldwide, but he remains passionate about the northern Rhône, where he draws inspiration year after year for Boekenhoutskloof wines.

The wines Marc Kent creates are all somewhat inspired by the northern Rhône; just look at the grape varieties! His Syrah and Semillon are true icons among wine connoisseurs. That's why this Franschhoek Cabernet Sauvignon is an odd one out. But let's be honest: a Cabernet Sauvignon from Franschhoek can only be a successful wine, but it's the Boekenhoutskloof version that breaks all records. Because this is one big celebration. Made from the finest Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from Franschhoek, meticulously planted in the most diverse terroir. From that moment on, it's Marc Kent who controls the wine, ensuring that Boekenhoutskloof Franschhoek Cabernet Sauvignon becomes the very best wine. The juice is therefore treated to a full 22 months of aging in lightly toasted oak.

The moment has arrived: we're about to enjoy a fabulous bottle of Boekenhoutskloof Franschhoek Cabernet Sauvignon. A gem from the first sip to the very last drop. And that last drop will be a fight – this wine is so incredibly delicious. The parade begins with a generous and open nose where every wine drinker will discover a cacophony of aromas: subtle spices, bold herbs, and blossoming flowers, combined with the characteristic dark fruit typical of a Cabernet Sauvignon. The palate offers a layered impression, with each sip symbolizing new aromas. Think mulberries, licorice, raspberries, minerals, cedarwood, and cocoa. A perfect accompaniment to a hearty main course.

2023 was een uitstekend oogstjaar voor de rode wijnen in de Westkaap, Zuid-Afrika. De koelere groeiperiode en voldoende regenval resulteerden in wijnen met een goede balans, fruitconcentratie en frisse zuren.
