There are many Grillo wines from the Italian island of Sicily, but this one is certainly one of the kings. This Tasca Grillo Cavallo delle Fate is truly exceptional, made from very old vines planted in Sicily's finest vineyards. The Grillo grape has become the Sicilian grape, and not surprisingly. It thrives in the warm climate and now produces beautiful, full harvests. This white wine from Tasca is also one of the island's powerful and highly refined Grillo wines.

For this white Cavallo delle Fate, the grapes are grown in the original first vineyard near Palermo. Here, the sun and fresh sea breeze provide the perfect climate for the Grillo to thrive. The grapes grow peacefully and are given time to develop, as the winemaker removes many bunches. This allows the remaining bunches to become fuller and more powerful. And after being harvested by hand, this Grillo simply matures in steel vats. The juice is so incredibly good, the winemaker explains, "there's no need to touch anything else."
