Argentiera, Doc Bolgheri Superiore, draws its strength and uniqueness from the beautiful area in which it is produced. The grapes are sourced from the estate's finest vineyards—Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. This wine has a rich and silky flavor. Long aging in French oak barrels, the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon, and the unique terroir of Tenuta Argentiera make this wine one of the finest expressions of the Bolgheri region.

The success of Argentiera

With plants of exceptional elegance and great suppleness, the relatively young Argentiera winery has, in just a few years, earned a reputation as one of the most prestigious establishments in the Bolgheri region. The fact that the first bottling in the Tenuta Argentiera was already a resounding success is due to Piero Antinori, a renowned partner who brought all his experience to the new project and who, together, are responsible for the quality of the wines, which improves year after year. The 80 hectares of vineyards owned by the estate owners – brothers and renowned Florentine entrepreneurs Corrado and Marcello Fratini – are almost ideally situated and are among the finest in the area. They are by far the highest cultivated areas in the Bolgheri DOC. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah thrive on the predominantly clayey soils with significant amounts of gravel. Grapes are hand-picked and carefully selected from the estate's finest vineyards, located at altitudes between 180 and 200 meters. The grapes are gravity-fed into tanks, with each varietal vinified separately. Fermentation and maceration take place in stainless steel tanks for approximately 25-30 days at a controlled temperature never exceeding 28/30 degrees Celsius. The wine is then transferred to 225-liter French oak barrels—half of which are new—to complete malolactic fermentation. Maturation takes place in barrel and then in bottle before release.

A powerful and complex wine from Argentiera

Deep purple-red in color. Expressive and intense aromas of dark fruit, cassis, a touch of white pepper, vanilla, and spices. Powerful and full-bodied with great complexity. Despite its strength, it remains elegant, fresh, and richly fine. Powerful ripe fruit, coffee, and minerality with a long finish. The flagship and cream of the crop is this Argentiera Bolgheri Superiore.
