Bogle's California Wine Tradition
The Bogle family's winemaking tradition spans six generations. The story began in the 19th century when Captain A.J. Bogle and his cousin Samuel made their journey from Tennessee to California. Initially, they concentrated on fruit growing, but it wasn't until the fourth generation, Warren Bogle, in the late 1960s that their focus shifted to grape growing. In 1978, Bogle Vineyards introduced their first wines.
Over the years, Bogle Vineyards has expanded to an impressive 1,200 hectares, where Chardonnay dominates. Thanks to California's ideal terroir and climate, the grapes develop to their full potential. Harvesting only begins when the current winemaker, Warren Bogle's grandson, gives his approval. And yes, every grape is carefully hand-picked.
The Art of Making Bogle Chardonnay
After the careful harvest, the meticulous vinification process begins. Some of the grapes are fermented in new oak barrels, which contributes to the wine's rich flavor. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in these barrels for another nine months, resulting in that characteristically full, creamy, and robust Californian style.
Upon opening a bottle of Bogle Chardonnay, you're greeted by a symphony of aromas: juicy mango, soft apricot, and crisp pineapple. But swirl the wine, and you'll discover even more: toasted hazelnuts and soft vanilla notes, enhanced by a touch of oak. It's a wine that celebrates the rich tradition of Californian winemaking and an absolute treat for any wine lover.
