A delicately oak-aged delicacy from Abruzzo. We're secretly crazy about it. Since the first vintage, we've looked forward to the new Calalenta Fantini Pecorino every year. The aroma and flavor are green, fruity, but above all, quality. The discerning wine drinker will find a feast of recognition in Calalenta Fantini Pecorino: pears, ripe apple, and soft oak. Those who truly take the time to savor this Calalenta white wine will also detect a rich balsamic note.

A white wine from Abruzzo

Although Calalenta's vineyards are primarily located in beautiful Puglia, also known as "the heel of the boot," the winery also boasts impressive vineyards in Central Italy. This is one of the vineyards where this Calalenta Fantini Pecorino is grown. For this, we travel to Abruzzo, located on Italy's Adriatic coast. Abruzzo is best known for the immensely popular Montepulciano D'Abruzzo, a renowned red wine. However, Abruzzo also boasts excellent white wines, including this Calalenta Fantini Pecorino.

Pecorino is the basis for this white wine. Many will immediately think of the beloved sheep's cheese from this region. However, it is also a white grape capable of great deeds. The name, however, comes from the sheep; locals thought the full, firm clusters of these grapes resembled a sheep's head. Although the Pecorino grape is becoming increasingly common, it remains a rare grape. The vineyards of this Calalenta Fantini Pecorino are therefore unique: Pecorino vines stretch as far as the eye can see. The grapes at Fantini grow on a pergola, a typical feature of this region. Also unique is the extremely cold fermentation, which gives Calalenta Fantini Pecorino an exceptionally thirst-quenching character.
