This Port from Calem is the most exclusive in Calem's range, with an average age of 40 years, a piece of history. Everything is done for this Port, according to the winemaker. The finest bunches are cultivated in the oldest vineyards with trunks up to 60 years old. The grapes grow quietly with love and care. The growing season is long because the vines receive plenty of sunshine, but also cool nighttime temperatures due to their relatively high altitude. The bunches are of unprecedented beauty, which is reflected in this 40-year-old port. The bunches are hand-selected and harvested, then transported in small crates to Calem. Here, this old port undergoes a long aging process in oak barrels. This 40-year-old port from Calem has developed its aroma and flavor by blending old wines that have aged an average of 40 years in wooden barrels. This gives this beautiful 40-year-old port its aroma: we find notes of chocolate, plums, sweet black fruit, and vanilla. The taste is refined and very smooth, with many deep flavors of plum, tobacco, chocolate, and vanilla. The powerful, ripe finish completes the whole picture.
