The grapes for this Carta Vieja Sauvignon Blanc are grown on one of the del Pedragal family's oldest estates, the Valle del Loncomilla. Located on the eastern bank of the river, the vineyards enjoy a perfect climate thanks to their location, allowing the grapes to develop unique aromas. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes are grown on loamy soil, making this white wine wonderfully fresh and beautifully balanced.
Excellent climate for Sauvignon Blanc
Production is entirely in the hands of the Carta Vieja family. Founded in 1825, the winery only began marketing its own wines in 1985. Before that, they supplied grapes to other leading Chilean wineries. Today, the seventh generation is at the helm. With vineyards in the renowned Valle Central, the family owns one of South America's most productive and remarkable wine regions. The climate is varied, thanks to numerous microclimates, allowing a wide variety of grape varieties to thrive. The grapes are carefully harvested in mid-February. Selection takes place not only in the vineyards but also under strict control in the winery. This is followed by an eight-hour cold maceration followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature. The vinification process is closely monitored, with regular tastings to ensure high quality. What does Carta Vieja Sauvignon Blanc taste like?
The result is a bright yellow Sauvignon Blanc with greenish reflections in the glass. The nose is fresh, clean, and intense. We note aromas of white currant, fresh herbs, and lime. These are enhanced by notes of asparagus and minerals. On the palate, the wine is well-balanced with a pleasant texture and a long, elegant finish.Product details
