This is one of Casa Silva's flagship wines, a unique piece of craftsmanship, if you ask us. What makes this wine unique? Well, it's made from eleven small, unique vineyards from Colchagua. All eleven vineyards are filled with the Chilean Carmenere grape, and each vineyard contributes to this red Microterroir. The vineyards are all between 0.1 and 0.4 hectares in size—literally, Micro. But these small vineyards are unique and of absolute top quality, all influenced by the Lingues Mountains. This is why the label states "Terroir de Los Lingues," because the mountain provides a unique climate. Very warm afternoons, cool nights, and winds blowing across the mountain. This gives the Carmenere grapes a lot of strength from the sun, but also, crucially, from the coolness.

Unique wines from the unique winery Casa Silva

The Casa Silva winery is unique. This is especially true because, after all these years, it remains a true family business, with the family in full control. Founded in 1892, Mario Pablo Silva is now the fifth generation at the helm. In recent years, Casa Silva has focused primarily on its terroir. The winery's origins lie just off the road south from Santiago, near the town of San Fernando. It's a beautiful bodega known for its quality wines. And thanks to the excellent weather and soil structure, they can produce them time and time again.

Very few bottles of the Carmenere Microterroir

The yield is very low, which is only natural with such small vineyards, producing only 12,000 bottles annually. After being harvested by hand, this Carmenere Microterroir is aged for a full 12 months in oak barrels in the Casa Silva cellars. The result is unique and of unparalleled quality, with aromas of sweet plums, figs, abundant black fruit, vanilla, and cedar. The palate is complex with considerable depth, beautifully refined tannins, and a long finish. We noted notes of black fruit, leather, tobacco, coffee grounds, and cedar. What a magnificent wine this Casa Silva Carmenere Microterroir is.
