The large and powerful Château Palmer winery also produces this red Alter Ego, and we can certainly taste it! What richness, finesse, and refinement this wine from the Margaux region offers. We often see Bordeaux wineries produce a second wine that's somewhat lighter than the first. However, Château Palmer hasn't done this, making this Alter Ego as its own selection, with a different feel than Château Palmer's first wine. Since 1960, Château Palmer has been among the world's top and very best wines from the Margaux wine region. Château Palmer's vineyards are classified as a 3rd Grand Cru Classé Margaux.

Pure luxury at this Chateau Palmer Alter Ego

Château Palmer's philosophy has always been clear: to make wines with respect for the soil and vineyards, but also for its wines. This has made it a living history, producing the very best wines from the Margaux region. The vineyards are entirely biodynamic, and sheep are also used to mow the grass in the vineyards. This means no machinery is needed to mow the grass, and besides the sheep's work, it's a beautiful sight.

Unique terroir for Chateau Palmer

Behind every great wine lies a unique terroir. This also applies to the wines of Château Palmer, as the vineyards are located in Margaux, between the Atlantic Ocean and the Gironde estuary. This means that the wind plays a significant role, as does the sun. The soil structures are unique and rich in gravel, providing excellent drainage. All this, combined with very old vines, gives the Château Palmer winemaker a unique harvest that he vinifies into a great wine. Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Petit Verdot grapes are used for this red wine, all harvested by hand and transported in small crates to Château Palmer.

Wood storage for the Alter Ego

Once the grapes have been harvested and fermented separately, the blend is determined by Chateau Palmer's head winemaker. A meticulous task reserved only for the very best winemakers in the world. After determining the blend, the resting period for this red Alter Ego begins. The wine is aged for eighteen months in French oak barrels in Chateau Palmer's cellars. Approximately thirty percent of the barrels used for this Alter Ego are new, which gives this red wine its full power. All this creates aromas of black fruit, light spice, cedar, vanilla, licorice, tobacco, and so on. A wine you can smell for hours, so beautiful. The taste is powerful and full, with very complex flavors of black fruit and spices on the tongue. Later, as the wine swirls in the mouth, you'll taste the depth of this red wine. Impressions of tobacco, cocoa, spices, cedar, and much more. But we won't spoil everything about this red; enjoy it for yourself.
