Creation Viognier

A lively yet elegant wine. That's how we could briefly describe this Viognier from Creation Estate. Creation was the first winery to plant Viognier in the world-famous Hemel-en-Aarde valley. And that was a very good choice. This location proves to have ideal conditions. The Atlantic Ocean provides the necessary cooling, giving the grapes a little more time to ripen. In return, we get interesting aromas with fine, fresh acidity.

The beginning of Creation Estate

In 2003, winemakers Jean Claude and Carolyn Martin planted 22 hectares of vineyards in the upper part of the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley near Walker Bay. Everything had to be built from scratch, but the two were convinced of the potential of this location, the soil, and their dream. And so, little by little, Creation Estate was born. Equipment was imported from Germany, Switzerland, and France and installed in the cellars. The cellar was completed just in time for their first harvest in 2007. Winemaking could begin. The favorable climate here allows for elegant and full-bodied wines with beautiful aromas and flavors.

The quality and taste of Creation Viognier

To achieve the best quality, the grapes are harvested early, then pressed, and the juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine is aged on lees for another three to four months. This gives the wine a rounder flavor. To preserve the fruitiness and fresh acidity, malolactic fermentation does not take place. Ultimately, we have a lively yet elegant white wine. A promising pale gold color, clear and bright in the glass. This Creation Viognier is overwhelmingly fruity on the nose, with refined aromas of white peach blended with a rich, creamy character. These follow well on the palate and combine seamlessly with fresh minerality and resilient, well-integrated natural acidity. Delicious as an aperitif, or enjoyed with creamy pasta and poultry dishes. This Creation Viognier is a true connoisseur's wine, so beautifully balanced and ripe!
