Description

The Malanotte de Stefani is made from the Raboso grape. The Raboso grape is an indigenous grape variety typical of Treviso. It originated some 3,000 years ago. The name of this grape is related to the word "Rabioso," which in dialect means "angry." It is a fruit that is quite hard and astringent, especially at first. This makes for a wine with a long aging potential. In the past, this was a wine bought for the birth of a child, who would then receive it on their wedding day. This allowed the wine to develop exceptionally well. Over the years, the grape has also developed and is no longer as "angry" as it once was.

The young vineyard of De Stefani

The old Terre Nobili vineyard in Fossalta di Piave is located just 1,000 kilometers from the Adriatic Sea and fifty kilometers from the Dolomites. This creates the perfect climate for the Rabioso grape. Plenty of sunshine and strong, cooling winds provide the harvest with everything it needs. The vines have been planted since 2007, but you don't taste it; the nutrient-rich soil ensures the grapes get everything they need.

What does the Malanotte Del Piave taste like?

For the Malanotte de Stefani, this means an intense ruby red color. It has a full and broad bouquet of blackberries and ripe cherries, rounded off with a hint of tobacco. The palate offers classic, well-balanced tannins, with beautifully ripe red fruit and a delicate chocolate note. A subtle, pleasant, classic acidity can be experienced on the back of the palate. This wine received 92 points from Robert Parker and 90 points from James Suckling, among others.
