Varietal(s) Pinot Noir

In 1988, the Domaine Drouhin Classique Pinot Noir was the first wine produced by the Drouhin family in Oregon. Three decades later, this cuvée has become a fundamental element of many great wine lists and personal cellars. The fruit is harvested entirely from the family estate in Dundee Hills, and the wine is vinified in the Drouhin family style, with a focus on elegance, balance, and finesse.

The quest for excellence at Domaine Drouhin

The history of the Drouhin family of winemakers goes back a long way, more than a century ago, when they acquired Burgundy's finest vineyards. The estate winery is nestled in the hills of Dundee. Here, the family creates elegant and refined Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines. The wines are made according to tradition and a highly specific production process. For over 25 years, the Drouhin family has brought a wealth of hard-earned experience to their vineyards in the Willamette Valley southwest of Portland, Oregon. This winemaking expertise and passion are passed down through generations: the quest for excellence, intellectual curiosity, a sense of value, passion, and respect for the terroir.

The aroma and taste of Domaine Drouhin Pinot Noir Oregon

The grapes are hand-picked and sorted. They are then destemmed and pressed. The grapes are fermented in 20 percent new French oak. After 12 months of aging, only the finest barrels are bottled, resulting in this beautiful wine. The Dundee Hills Pinot Noir is complex and expressive on the nose, with aromas of flower petals, candied dark cherries, and plums interwoven with savory notes, sandalwood, and a hint of oak. The palate presents dark fruit flavors and cherries, with pink peppercorns, rhubarb, and five-spice. Ripe, well-integrated tannins are balanced by the graceful structure. While the wine is very beautiful and approachable now, it has the charm and staying power to suggest it will age effortlessly for the next 10 years or more.
