The crown jewel of the Donnachiara winery. Considered by connoisseurs to be one of the finest wines from the southern half of Italy. Complex and incredibly delicious. Vinologists, sommeliers, and wine journalists are falling over themselves for superlatives. A wine that deserves to be at the top of the podium.
One of the best wines from Italy
Donnachiara Winery has surprised us again. What a delicious glass of wine this is! We expected nothing less from Donnachiara Winery, which has built a tremendous reputation in a relatively short time. Grapes have been grown at the winery's site for five generations. And women have always played a key role in this winemaking process. It's no wonder that Donnachiara's founder was a woman. A woman with a clear vision: to produce the finest wines of Campania.
And that's quite tricky. Campania doesn't enjoy the same popularity as other well-known Italian wine regions, such as Veneto, Piedmont, or Tuscany. However, the region does have several DOCG wines within its borders, including Taurasi. Taurasi is the premium wine made from the Aglianico grape. Due to its complexity and refinement, it is also known among wine connoisseurs as the Barolo of the South.
Impressions of Donnachiara Taurasi
For years, Donnachiara Taurasi has been considered one of the finest wines from southern Italy. We are therefore quite proud to have acquired several bottles of this exclusive wine. It is certainly exclusive, as the process of producing this Taurasi is both expensive and time-consuming. The Aglianico grapes are all hand-harvested. After pressing and fermentation, the wine is matured impressively, first in oak barrels and then for at least another 12 months in the bottle. Only then are the bottles of Donnachiara Taurasi allowed to leave the cellar.
Your senses will be in overdrive when drinking this Donnachiara Taurasi. Several refined aromas present themselves: fresh blackberries and slightly tart cherries. But wait, take another sip! I taste leather and tobacco, but also a touch of soft blackberries. A touch of oak brings a smile to your face. Donnachiara Taurasi is a multi-layered wine that you can savor again and again.
