Fruit & Wood Viognier Grande Reserve, IGP Pays d'Oc
This Viognier lives up to its name, boasting ripe white fruit and floral charm on a creamy finish, with just the right amount of fresh tension to draw you in for another sip. New to L'adoré's &Wood series and a worthy partner alongside : Butter & Wood Chardonnay Grande Reserve , offering the same compelling value for a house wine under ten euros.
Vineyards and region
The Viognier comes from Languedoc Roussillon in southern France. Abundant sunshine and cool evening breezes help the grapes ripen fully while maintaining the purity of their aromas. This results in that distinctive blend of peach, apricot, and blossom, with enough tension to keep the whole thing vibrant.
Vinification and maturation
The bunches are destemmed and deseeded. The wine is aged for nine months in stainless steel for pure fruit, while part of the cuvée is aged in oak for added depth. What does partial oak aging do for Viognier, and what do you taste? The oak adds subtle notes of vanilla and toast, rounds out the texture, and enhances the peach-apricot aromas, while the stainless steel keeps the whole thing clean and clear. This keeps the glass generous and silky, but never heavy.
Grape composition
Viognier 100 percent. Viognier is known for its apricot and white peach notes, with a soft palate and modest acidity. It's a grape that can elegantly handle oak without becoming heavy when matured with careful control.
Tasting notes and serving suggestions
The aromas of apricot, white peach, and hawthorn are lifted by vanilla and light toast. The palate is generous and silky, with a fresh, balanced finish. Serve at 10 to 12 degrees Celsius with creamy poultry dishes, fish in sauce, lobster, or aged cheeses. Enjoy now, but keep for at least three years.
About the series
