This white Crozes Hermitage from Guigal is often described as phenomenal. We can only agree, as this white wine is round, refined, and very appealing. The old vineyard in Vallouit, Larnage, is over 25 years old and currently produces small but highly aromatic bunches. Guigal has planted a total of 37 hectares of vineyards with Marsanne and Rousanne grapes for this white Crozes Hermitage. These are harvested early in the morning and then partially aged for a full twelve months in oak barrels in Guigal's magnificent cellars.

The world famous Guigal winery

The Guigal winery was founded in 1946 in the picturesque village of Ampuis. It is a small family business that has grown over the years into a world-renowned winery in the Rhône region. Guigal cultivates wine with the utmost respect for the environment. The vineyards for Guigal Crôzes Hermitage Blanc have an average age of 25 years. The soils of the various plots are silty, with sand and gravel. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of around 18 degrees Celsius, and part of the final wine is aged for 12 months on lees in French oak barrels.

The scents and flavors of Guigal Crozes Hermitage Blanc

The result is stunning, and the Guigal family is proud of it; it's the lady of the house's beloved wine. The character of this wine is partly due to the soil in which the plants are planted. Plenty of loose sand, clay, and gravel create a permeable soil, allowing the vines to absorb plenty of moisture. This also reflects the rich aroma of this white Crozes Hermitage. Beautiful hints of white flowers, acacia, and a good oaky note complete the picture. The palate is very elegant, stylish, and rich with nuances of peach, apple, lime, and a touch of acacia.
