The Chardonnay grapes for this Vineyard Selection come from the two growing regions of Stellenbosch and Robertson. They produce a complex and elegant white wine with wonderfully soft aromas. Thanks to the extended oak aging, the wine develops a beautiful minerality. It has become a real treat.

The elite of South African wine growing

Kleine Zalze has been producing a wide range of fruity wines since 1683. Initially, Nicholas Cleef was at the helm, establishing the winery by planting 7,000 vines. The estate later came into the hands of well-known South African families such as Colyn, Krige, Du Toit, and De Waal. In 1996, it came into the hands of Kobus Basson and Rolf Schulz, marking the rise to the elite of South African winemaking. And with success. The wines regularly receive awards for their high quality. They are known for their unique character, and thanks to the wide selection, there's a perfect wine for every wine lover. What a powerhouse this Kleine Zalze Chardonnay from the Vineyard Selection series is! The Chardonnay grapes are harvested by hand and then fermented with skin contact for 12 hours. This is followed by eight months of oak aging in a combination of 60 percent new barrels and the rest in 400-liter second- and third-fill barrels made in France.

The aroma and taste of Kleine Zalze Chardonnay Vineyard Selection

On the nose, this Kleine Zalze Chardonnay Vineyard Selection offers hints of pear and citrus fruit, complemented by roasted nuts and vanilla. The palate is round and thickly structured, with refined notes of yellow fruit like apricots, peaches, and mangoes. On the back of the tongue, you'll clearly taste vanilla and yellow cream, along with subtle notes of roasted nuts and light spices.
