For this price, it's truly incredible: a wine with power, suppleness, and above all, drinkability. Not surprising, considering Las Condes wines are made by the renowned Santa Carolina family, a well-known name in the wine world. Luis Pereyra Cotapos and French winemaker Germain Bachelet have made the winery a success since 1875. Over the years, they've invested heavily in a modern winery and in developing the vineyards. This allows them to produce the finest wines at a fantastic price, which is precisely what Las Condes is known for. In 2015, the winery even received Wine Enthusiast's most prestigious and prestigious wine award, the title of "New World Winery of the Year." And that's not something you just get.
The Chardonnay grape harvest in Chile
This white wine from Las Condes uses Chardonnay grapes. This grape is grown in the beautiful Central Valley wine region, a region characterized by the perfect climate for Chardonnay grapes. Plenty of sunshine, cool winds from the Andes Mountains, and cool nights provide the harvest with exactly what it needs. The rich soil structure in which the vines have been planted for decades gives the Chardonnay bunches great depth. After a long and balanced growth process, all bunches are harvested at night to prevent damage during transport to the Las Condes Winery. Upon arrival, the bunches are sorted, and a portion of the wine is aged in oak barrels. This gives this white Chardonnay greater depth and power, making it head and shoulders above its competitors.
The best Chardonnay from Las Condes
Upon opening the bottle, we smelled abundant tropical fruit with a touch of vanilla. Our senses were alert, revealing a golden yellow color upon pouring, along with the perfect thick texture. In the glass, our noses were given the opportunity to absorb the beautiful aromas. We detected notes of apple, tropical fruit, mango, and a hint of brioche bread and vanilla. On the palate, the wine's mildly dry character, abundant tropical fruit, and a hint of vanilla captivate the palate. Later, in the finish, we also detected hints of red apple, mango, and ripe peaches. In short, a perfect glass of Chilean Chardonnay, and at this price.
