A characterful wine from Laurent Miquel

Laurent Miquel Chardonnay Viognier is a characterful wine from the young, talented owner and winemaker Laurent Miquel of Château Cazal Viel in Saint-Chinian. He works with great passion and dedication on the wines and has already received numerous praise and awards. The Saint-Chinian wine region is located in the Languedoc region northeast of the city of Béziers. The Cazal Viel vineyards are situated in the southern part at an altitude of between one hundred and two hundred meters and cover approximately 140 hectares with a rocky subsoil of limestone, loam, and gravel. This white wine is made from 65 percent Chardonnay grapes and 35 percent Viognier, producing a very pleasant yet challenging white wine. The grapes are harvested at night to ensure optimal fruit conditions, followed by a rigorous selection process. After vinification at 16 to 17 degrees Celsius, the wine is aged in stainless steel tanks and a small portion (7 percent) in oak barrels.
