While the winery initially focused primarily on Syrah grapes, Viognier grapes were planted from 1992 onward. The expansion reached its peak in 2009, when a large number of vineyards were purchased from Château Les Auzines.

Generation after generation, Laurent Miquel leads

It all began with Laurent Miquel, who initially owned the estate in the 18th century. Only a few generations later, under the leadership of Henri Miquel, did Laurent Miquel become a truly serious winery, thanks in part to its large production of Syrah wines. Henri Miquel was therefore affectionately known as "Mr. Syrah." On April 9, 2011, Sean Miquel, son of Laurent Miquel, was born. He represents the ninth generation that would take the helm of Laurent Miquel.

The vineyards in the south of France

Over time, Laurent Miquel has acquired numerous vineyards. They currently operate throughout southern France. It all began in Cazal Viel, in the heart of the Languedoc. This estate has been in the Miquel family's hands for over two centuries. It's located less than 100 kilometers west of Montpellier. The vineyards here are primarily planted with Syrah grapes, which grow on ancient vines. Further west, Laurent Miquel also has its own vineyards in Auzines, near the village of Lagrasse. These vineyards encompass a whopping 12 hectares, where, among other things, the grapes for the renowned Laurent Miquel Verite Viognier are planted.
