Laurent Miquel Merlot is a silky red wine from this renowned winery. A classic, ripe, full-bodied, and smooth with delicious berry aromas and a hint of oak. The origins of the Laurent Miquel winery date back to 1202. That year, Château Cazal Viel came into the possession of the monks of Fontcaude Abbey. They had been cultivating vines there since the Middle Ages until their expulsion during the French Revolution. Two years later, the Château was acquired by the Miquel family. However, it wasn't until 1970 that wine was produced on a large scale, primarily using the Syrah grape. This grape was planted by Henri Miquel, which later earned him the nickname "Monsieur Syrah." He released his first wine in 1980.

Full and very powerful this Laurent Miquel Merlot
A Mediterranean climate with warm summers and relatively mild winters. The terroir features calcareous sandy and red clay soil, full of stones. Harvested at night, the fermentation is long and temperature-controlled. Aged in stainless steel tanks and then for three months in oak barrels. The aroma reveals beautiful, juicy notes of young red fruit such as raspberries and strawberries. The wine is very refined in its making. A wine with very soft tannins and rounded flavors of strawberries and cherries, rounded out with a hint of vanilla. A red wine that pairs beautifully with delicious meat dishes.
