The driving force behind Mapu's wines is Baroness Philippine De Rothschild. In the mid-1990s, she purchased an impressive vineyard called Villavicencio. This estate is located in the Maule Valley, in the south of the vast Central Valley wine region. The climate here is excellent for viticulture. With the ocean to the west and the Andes to the east, the vineyards are perfectly situated.

Because Mapu's vineyards are perfectly situated, the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes ripen beautifully. The bunches are full, juicy, and bursting with flavor. This is immediately evident when pouring Mapu Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon. The nose offers typical Cabernet Sauvignon notes, which we absolutely love. Fresh raspberries, fragrant cherries, and plump blueberries. A hint of plum, coffee, and pepper reveals a light oak aging. This is only about six months, not too long. This way, Mapu Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon retains its purity. The flavor is varied, with soft fruit notes combined with beautiful tannins. Delicate notes of nuts and spices dominate the finish of this red wine.
