Description

Campagnola is a major producer located in the Valpolicella Classico wine region of Veneto, Italy. Founded by Carlo Campagnola, the Campagnola family now manages vineyards and collaborates with winemakers in the Valpolicella, Bardolino, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and Soave regions. This Morando Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is made entirely from Montepulciano grapes. This grape is found throughout Italy, but thrives particularly in the Valpolicella region. It has an unmistakable aroma of red fruit and spices. It often imparts a dry, smooth, and lingering finish. This is what makes this Montepulciano d'Abruzzo so unique.

The origin of Campagnola Morando

The family's winemaking roots in the Marano di Valpolicella valley date back to 1907, when Caterina Zardini inherited exclusive management of the estate upon the death of her husband, Carlo Campagnola. In the 1940s, their son, Giuseppe Campagnola, moved the family business to its current location in the village of Valgatara, in Valpolicella Classico. Here, he built the cellar that is still used to age Campagnola Valpolicella wines. Campagnola expanded significantly in the 1970s when it added new expressions of northeastern Italian wines to its portfolio. In the 1990s, the focus shifted to producing high-quality Valpolicella wines, and today the company cultivates and partners with winemakers approximately 80 hectares of vineyards in this region, along with 30 hectares in Bardolino, 25 hectares in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, and 20 hectares in Soave.

What does Morando Montepulciano d'Abruzzo taste like?

This grape is wonderfully refined and bursting with flavor! The Morando Montepulciano d'Abruzzo glows ruby red in the glass and has a full, sultry aroma of blackcurrant, plum, blackberry, and a hint of spice. It has a robust flavor, yet is also full and smooth with ripe black fruit. An Italian powerhouse that pairs perfectly with grilled steak with wild mushrooms or a delicious pasta dish.
