What a royal wine this Murphy Goode Liar's Dice Zinfandel is, truly one you'll never forget. Winemaker David Ready Jr. uses Zinfandel grapes from very old vines in Sonoma Country for this red wine. The climate here is perfect for making a classy wine. In 1985, friends Tim Murphy, Dale Goode, and Dave Ready decided to join forces while playing Liar's Dice (bluffing poker) and thus founded Murphy Goode. The winery is located in the Alexander Valley in northern Sanoma County. Today, it is part of the Jackson Family Wines Collection. In the United States, the winery is known for its straightforward, frequently award-winning wines and for its casual, unpretentious style. The winery is still run by the same family. The organization is in the hands of Tim Murphy's three sons, and Dave Ready's sons are responsible for the winemaking.

Murphy Goode's Best Wine

The cooling mist from San Francisco Bay has a positive effect on the ripening grapes. Zinfandel is a child of California. It is made into red, white, and rosé wines. The traditionally crafted, barrel-aged red wines deserve the most attention, as they often combine power and class in a delightful way. The grapes are carefully harvested by hand and then aged in oak barrels for a full sixteen months. Twelve percent new barrels are even used to give this Liar's Dice Zinfandel more depth.

The smell and taste of the Murphy Goode Liars Dice Zinfandel

The aroma reveals notes of ripe raspberries, black cherries, blackberry jam, vanilla, and oak. The palate is very complex, with ripe tannins, abundant black fruit, a touch of spice, cedarwood, and plenty of cocoa and vanilla. This red wine is a warm-blooded companion to anything grilled or smoked. It also pairs well with game dishes or a cheese board.
