Marne Brune is a Nebbiolo d'Alba created through exceptionally careful selection. The grapes come from vineyards oriented to the left bank of the Tanaro River, facing south and southwest, in the heart of the hills. The terrain is loose and dominated by yellow sandy soil, layered on banks of marl, limestone, and fine gravel. This wine takes its name from the area where its grapes are grown, in the townships of Vezza d'Alba, Montaldo, and Monteu Roero, called Marne.
The wines of the Fontanafredda estate

The magnificent Fontanafredda estate is nestled among the beautiful hills of the Langhe, in the heart of Piedmont. It once belonged to King Vittorio Emanuele II of Italy, who gave it to Rosa Vercellana, the love of his life. A long-standing love story, kept alive by the passion for winemaking of Emanuele Guerreri, Count of Mirafiore, son of the king, and his "Bela Rusin" (as she was popularly known), a modern-minded entrepreneur who dedicated his life to wine. Fontanafredda preserves the flavors of this passionate story and emphasizes the drive for innovation and improvement that has always distinguished this superb label, a leader among leaders in the Langhe region. Passion for wine, for the land, and for tradition finds a truly tangible expression here.

Fermentation and maceration took place under controlled temperatures for ten to twelve days. This wine was then aged for twelve months in French oak barrels, followed by bottle aging for six to seven months.
