Vintage Report
The 2021 vintage in the Southern Rhône was excellent, scoring 94 points with Robert Parker. Wines from this vintage are approachable early and very accessible.
This beautiful, full-bodied and powerful red wine from Ogier is a wonderful choice for this season. The vineyards are nestled in the heart of the Rhône Valley in the commune of Rasteau, in the Vaucluse department. The soil is brown and red, containing limestone and loam. This is where the Grenache and Syrah grapes for this Rhône wine are grown.
The perfectly ripe grapes for Rasteau Helianthe
The Ogier winery has several vineyards in the southern part of the Rhône Valley, including Châteauneuf du Pape. The soil absorbs the heat of the Provençal sun during the day and then releases it at night. This ensures exceptionally good ripening of the grapes. Rateau, a commune in the Rhône Valley, owes its fame to its Vin Doux Naturelle, a naturally fortified sweet wine. Hélianthes are plants in the Asteraceae family, flowers with large yellow petals that we often compare to suns. The name of this wine refers to the sunny slopes, sheltered from the mistral winds, where the Grenache grapes grow. This southerly location allows the grapes to ripen perfectly for the production of generous wines with great aromatic richness, such as Rasteau.Enjoy the beautiful aromas of Ogier Rasteau Helianthe
Throughout the year, the vines are managed according to viticultural principles, respecting the soil and plants. Manual crushing and thinning help regulate the load and optimize quality. The grapes reach perfect ripeness, after which the harvest begins. Harvesting is manual; the grapes are transported in boxes to avoid damage and then completely destemmed to obtain a delicate, supple tannin. Maturation in oak barrels, Ogier's expertise, is meticulous. And because this winery views winemaking as an art, it produces high-quality wines. This unique piece of work, which gleams ruby red in the glass, is no exception. This Rasteau Helianthe has beautiful aromas of red fruit, black pepper, light spices, and a touch of fig. The palate is soft and slightly oily, with nuances of plum, blackberry, cherry, spice, and a hint of vanilla and blackcurrant. A well-rounded wine with a beautiful structure and lovely length.Product details
