A Muscat wine to swoon over. As soon as you start enjoying Ouma se Wyn, you'll begin to fantasize about the rugged South African landscape. You'll dream of the beautiful landscape, where nature reigns free. You'll dream of vibrant cities like Cape Town and the country's beautiful wine regions, such as Robertson, home to Weltevrede. Ouma se Wyn Weltevrede is more than just a dessert wine; it's among South Africa's finest!
The vineyards of Weltevrede
Muscat plays a starring role in Ouma se Wyn. These are grown on incredibly old vines, in exactly the same way as those grown in France. Because the vines are so old, yields are low. The quality, however, is unparalleled. Weltevrede's vineyards are located in Robertson, a magnificent wine region a three-hour drive from the metropolis of Cape Town. The fact that Weltevrede is a true family business is reflected in the Ouma se Wyn label. The wife is the grandmother of the current owner, Philip Jonker, who took over the company from his father, Lourens, in 1997. Thanks in part to this father and son team, Weltevrede has developed into a serious winery in Southwest South Africa.
The smell and taste of Ouma se Wyn Weltevrede
Time to sit down and enjoy. Drink Ouma se Wyn Weltevrede chilled, but certainly not too cold. Around 9 degrees Celsius is perfect. The aroma is open and appealing. You immediately recognize a dessert wine on the nose: wild blossoms, fresh citrus, and sweet honey. A hint of raisins tempts you. The taste is sublime. Powerful on the palate, but not at all heavy. Sweet, but not overpowering. The acidity in the finish ensures Ouma se Wyn's balance. Enjoy this Weltevrede dessert wine with chocolate, orange, and fresh fruit desserts.
