Contrappasso is made from a blend of two grapes: Sangiovese and a very ripe Syrah that has been allowed to partially wilt. It is a unique product, thanks to the fresh, fruity flavor of the Sangiovese combined with the rich sweetness of the Syrah. Together, they create a wine suitable for a variety of uses. A little residual sugar gives it a certain sweetness without being overly sweet.
Excellent value for money from Renzo Masi
For over 100 years, Masi has been a household name in the Tuscan wine world. The Fattoria di Basciano winery is located in the heart of the Rufina region near Florence. Wine has been produced here for three generations. The philosophy has always remained the same: to produce wines with excellent value for money. To achieve this, Masi has year after year sought out and selected producers who can guarantee a consistently high level of quality. And during this search, long-lasting partnerships have been built. Renzo Masi's range includes two white wines—a rosé, three red wines, a Chianti Riserva, and a blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in oak barrels—all using grapes and wines from the Rufina region and its surroundings.
The Sangiovese grapes are harvested at their usual stage of ripeness, while the Syrah is allowed to mature longer on the vine and then dried out for a short time. The two grapes complete the fermentation process separately, after which the two wines are blended.
Enjoy the beautifully balanced Contrappasso
The Contrappasso has an intense ruby red color. A complex combination of aromas with the light fruitiness of raspberries and strawberries, typical of a young Sangiovese, but also the richness of a fortified wine. On the palate, the wine is well-structured and complete, beautifully balanced by the light acidity that creates a pleasant contrast with the final sweetness.
